The USP Verified Mark is the most substantive thing on a supplement label and the most commonly misread. What it means is narrow and genuinely valuable: an independent organisation has tested the product to confirm it contains the ingredients listed, at the potencies stated, without harmful levels of specified contaminants, and that it breaks down in the body rather than passing through intact. That last one is less trivial than it sounds, since a tablet that does not dissolve delivers nothing regardless of what went into it. In a category where the regulator does not approve products before sale and independent testing has repeatedly found supplements that under-deliver or contain things not on the label, knowing the bottle matches the label is a real assurance. What it does not mean is equally important. The seal says nothing about whether a supplement does anything for you. It is not an efficacy finding, it is not a safety assessment for your particular circumstances, and it does not indicate you have a deficiency worth correcting.
