Checking It Yourself on Arrival

Buying luxury goods outside a brand's own boutique means the question of authenticity is yours to settle, whatever any seller states. Kinship says items pass third-party authentication before dispatch, which is a reasonable process and not the same as a guarantee, because authentication is a judgment made on the evidence available. So treat arrival as your own inspection step. Photograph the box, the dust bag, labels, stitching, hardware, soles and any serial or date codes before the item is worn or the tags come off. Independent authentication services will assess from photographs for a modest fee, and several will turn it round in a day. Do all of this inside the return window rather than after it, because a verdict is only worth something while the item can still go back.
