Silk Is the Core of a Wider Sleep Range

Silk is the core of Promeed's range and the rest of the catalog is built outward from it. The silk line covers pillowcases, duvet covers, sheets and bedding sets, made from mulberry silk at 23 momme in 6A grade. Around that sit comforters and duvets, weighted blankets, ergonomic pillows, mattress toppers and cooling bedding, plus smaller sleep accessories. Several ranges carry their own names, including Coolrest for temperature regulation, HerbalRX and Skin-like, and many products in those three carry a one-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. The company ships to more than two hundred countries, and the positioning is premium materials at below the usual price for them, sold direct rather than through retailers.

Momme Is the Number to Compare

Two numbers describe silk bedding and they are the only ones worth comparing between brands. Momme is a weight measure, roughly four and a third grams per square meter per momme, and it works the way thread count does for cotton. The useful range for bedding runs from nineteen to twenty-five: below that the fabric is thin and wears quickly, above it the silk gets heavy and loses the airiness that is the point of buying it. Promeed sells at twenty-three, which sits in the band most retailers treat as the balance of softness and durability. The second number is fiber grade, running from A up to 6A, where 6A is the highest and means long, even, uniform strands. Higher is not automatically better on either, but these two let you compare like with like.
