Reading the Water Resistance Ratings Properly

These ratings describe static pressure resistance, not a depth you can safely swim to, which is why they don't map neatly onto activities. A 5 ATM watch handles pool swimming, showers and rain. A 10 ATM watch like the TANK T4 or M4 adds a real margin for snorkeling, surfing and high-impact water sports, and KOSPET rates the hardware to 45 meters. IP69K is a separate dust and high-pressure-jet rating, useful around washdowns and heavy dirt, and unrelated to depth. For diving specifically, KOSPET's own guidance is narrower than the headline number: stay within 40 meters, treat the dive modes as suited to recreational dives and scuba training rather than professional work, and dive with certification or supervision plus backup instruments. The watch logs depth, time and temperature well, but it is not a replacement for a dedicated dive computer.
