Nomad eSIM sells prepaid mobile data for travel, delivered as a digital profile rather than a physical card. It was launched in 2020 by LotusFlare, a telecommunications software company headquartered in Santa Clara, California, and covers more than two hundred destinations. Plans are bought in the app or on the website, installed by scanning a code, and set to activate on arrival, so a phone connects on landing without a shop or a kiosk. The service is data only, running alongside a primary SIM in a dual-SIM phone so the home number stays live for calls and texts. Plans come in two families with different allowances, validity windows and per-gigabyte rates.

Unused Data Does Not Roll Over

Two things expire on a prepaid data plan and both cost money. The allowance runs out, and so does the validity window, and whatever is left when that window closes is gone rather than banked. The same applies to the monthly European subscription, where the base allowance refills each cycle and anything unused does not carry forward. The two plan families are also priced very differently per gigabyte: the short-trip family carries the higher rate on smaller allowances and shorter windows, while the long-stay family runs at well under half that rate but starts at a larger bundle over a longer period.
