Surf Union Store Info
The Brand Behind the Boat
Surf Union is a wakesurfing and wakeboarding brand, which the name does not make obvious. Wakesurfing happens behind a boat on flat water rather than on ocean waves, and the gear reflects that: graphic tees, hoodies and headwear alongside impact vests built for repeated falls at speed rather than for paddling out. The company operates out of Utah, a long way from any ocean and in the middle of one of the strongest inland wake scenes in the country. The other thing that sets it apart is that it runs sweepstakes alongside the shop, with prizes drawn among entrants, and that arrangement shapes the purchase terms in ways worth understanding before you order.
What the Official Rules Say
The sweepstakes is the reason the purchase terms here are unusual, so it is worth reading the rules rather than the marketing. Three things stand out. No purchase is necessary to enter or to win, and buying does not improve your odds, which is stated in the opening lines of the published rules and is the opposite of what the shop's framing implies. Entry is restricted to residents of the contiguous United States, and excludes Alaska, Hawaii, Florida and New York, so a reader in one of those states can order gear but cannot win anything by doing so. And the rules explicitly describe buying items to obtain entries with the intention of returning them afterwards as fraudulent, which is almost certainly the origin of the all-sales-final policy. None of that makes the sweepstakes a problem. It does mean that buying gear as a route into a draw is the expensive way to do something that is free, and that if the draw is what you want, the free entry route is the one to use. Buy the gear because you want the gear. Enter the sweepstakes separately.
Buying Without a Refund Route
There are no refunds at all, only exchanges, so treat every order as final in value even though it is not final in size. That changes the calculation on anything you are unsure about.
Size up if you are between sizes or want a relaxed fit, which is the brand's own guidance on its product pages and matters more here than usual given there is no way back out.
Exchanges need the item unused and unworn in original condition, and you pay to send it back while they cover the replacement. So try things on indoors and do not take anything near water until you are certain.
Check whether an impact vest is an approved flotation device before relying on it as one. Padding and buoyancy are not the same as certification, and most places require an approved PFD for riding behind a boat.
The sweepstakes has a free entry route and does not require buying anything, and residents of several states cannot enter at all. Read the official rules before letting a draw influence an order.
Bundling into one order is the sensible way to reach free shipping, but given the no-refund policy, only bundle things you are confident about rather than adding items to clear a threshold.
