The Company That Invented the Batting Glove

ranklin Sports was started in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1946 by two brothers making balls and gloves from scrap leather collected at local shoe factories. In 1984 it invented the baseball batting glove, developed with Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt, which is why it's the official batting glove of Major League Baseball rather than simply a licensed partner. The range now covers baseball and softball, pickleball, football, soccer, hockey, youth gear, training equipment, indoor games and licensed fan merchandise, with official partnerships across several leagues. Orders ship within the United States only, carry a 30-day return window on unworn items, and come with a 90-day warranty for the original buyer.

The Warranty Follows the Receipt

Franklin's 90-day warranty is tied to the buyer and the seller, not just the product. It covers the original purchaser only, on items bought from Franklin or an authorized reseller, and a claim needs proof of purchase. A glove picked up secondhand, or from a marketplace seller who isn't authorized, carries nothing. The exclusions are worth reading too: cosmetic scratches and dents aren't covered, nor is damage from accident, misuse or water, nor anything serviced or modified outside Franklin. If a claim is approved, the repair or replacement starts its own 90 days rather than continuing the original period. Returns are separate and shorter, running 30 days on unworn items only.
