From Gas to Battery

Greenworks builds cordless, battery powered outdoor equipment instead of gas engines, from string trimmers to riding mowers. The pitch is less noise, no oil changes or spark plugs, and for most residential yards, comparable cutting power to a similarly sized gas mower. The tradeoff is runtime: a 5.0Ah or 8.0Ah battery covers most residential mowing sessions on a single charge, but the 80V line is where you'd look if a single charge needs to cover genuinely long or hilly runs.

Pick Your Platform Before You Pick a Coupon

This is the decision that matters more than which code you use, batteries are cross-compatible within a voltage family but not across families. Buying tools from two different platforms means buying two sets of batteries.

24V POWERALL: light yard work, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, small blowers. Occasional DIY use, not a primary mower platform. 40V: a reasonable fit for smaller properties, under the half-acre line Greenworks itself draws (see below). 60V and 80V Pro: Greenworks' own guidance recommends these specifically for properties over half an acre, or with hills and thick grass, citing the higher-traction wheels and motor controllers built into that tier. OPTIMUS Crew 82V: built for all-day commercial use. Skip unless maintaining more than one property.
